Welcome to Windana Ridgebacks. In Swahili, Windana means "to hunt together."About Us:
We live on Chuckanut Mountain, an hour south of the B.C., Canadian border in the Puget Sound area of Washington. Our Ridgebacks live in the wilderness with us and enjoy hunting small game - mice, rabbits, and squirrels. They have learned not to tangle with porcupines. Pat is a member of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States (RRCUS) as well as the local Northwest Rhodesian Ridgeback Club (NWRRC), and Chuckanut Dog Training Association (CDTA). She is current Treasurer of the NWRRC club. Dave belongs to the Pacific Northwest Trail Association (PTNA), where he helps build and maintain hiking trails. Our dogs like nothing better than to go with Dave on his trail maintenance days as well as his weeklong backpack trips. Please see photos under Jack for some of the hiking photos. Goals: We take great pride in producing "Performance Ridgebacks." We breed sparingly and strive to breed for Temperament and Conformation (Performance). All of our dogs have health certificates (CERF, HIPS, ELBOWS, THYROID and BAER), which can be found in the OFA database. Five-generation pedigree information and some pictures can be found on POST, the Ridgeback Pedigree On-Line Search Tool.
Rhodesian Ridgebacks were bred for stamina and our dogs like nothing better than a nice long hike as you can see on Jack's page. Our first litter was a nice small litter of four, with Asia achieving a #8 RRCUS Bitch placement in 2002. In 2004, Jewel, from Cinnamon's second litter, achieved #1 Ridgeback Bitch placement, and Bri is working on achieving her Versatility Title. |
